On that last row: OpenRouter lists 83 model providers, and 46 of them publish zero-retention, do-not-train policies (as of 2 September 2026, from OpenRouter's own provider data). DeepSeek's own hosted inference, by contrast, retains prompts and may use them for training. That is precisely why Plainly routes the way it does: the model is an open weight, so it can be served anywhere, and Plainly chooses the providers that keep nothing.
Why the routing layer is stated at all
Every call routes through OpenRouter to a model provider, a layer Plainly does not control, and pretending otherwise would amount to the kind of quiet claim competitors hide in policy prose. The routing layer is the one part of the pipeline where someone else's policy touches your question. So it is named here, with the choice Plainly makes about it: zero-retention providers only. The honest limit
The storage on Plainly's side is real. Chats are kept so that history, continuity and deletion work; that is a product decision, and if you want the chats gone, deleting them removes them. What never happens: training on your chats, humans reading them, ads shaped by them, or your questions becoming anyone's inventory. The comparison point is real too.
